Album Review:

"Fanfare" is the third album by Dorian Electra, and it is by far their weakest album, it's not bad, but it's not very memorable either. It's a bit of a departure from Dorian's previous works, but I feel like at the same time their trying too hard replicate the sound of their previous 2 albums while still being entirely different from them, and it just doesn't feel as genuine, it hits, but it feels hollow at times. Songs like "Yes Man", "anon", and "Warning Signs" just fall flat and aren't very enjoyable, and the mixing on a couple of them is a bit messy. On the other hand, song like "Symphony", "Puppet", "Phonies", "Touch Grass", and "Wanna Be a Star" are amazing song that never fail to get me going, and while "Lifetime" isn't a favorite of mine, it feels like one of the most genuine songs on the album, which I can really appreciate. "Touch Grass" definitely feels like a call back to Dorian's previous album "My Agenda" in terms of lyrics. although it's instrumental is way more fitting of some of the songs found in "Fanfare". The songs "Freak Mode", "Sodom & Gomorrah", and "Puppet" can be enjoyable, but are sometimes a little off putting by how shamlessly horny they are (although some would consider that a good thing ;3), it really depends on my mood, although unlike the previous two songs, "Puppet" absolutely makes up for it with it's instrumental, and the drop is killer. (I feel it is important to note that I did not let the current mood I'm in and how it effects the way I currently feel about the sexual lyrics alter my raitings of the songs in any way.) I personally belive "Manmade Horrors" is a bit to accurate for it's own good, the instrumental is amazing but whenever I pay to much attention to the lyrics I realize just how fucking unhinged our world has become over the last 20 years, and because of AI (fuck AI) I probably will see all of this shit if I haven't already seen it in the real world :/... I think the songs "Symphony", "Idolize", "Yes Man", "Phonies", and "Wanna Be a Star" are the most fitting tracks of the vibe that this albums art and promotion attempts to portray, when I first listened to the album back when it came out, these were the kinds of songs I was expecting to hear. In the end, "Fanfare" isn't a bad album, but it can be a bit dry, and if I had to guess, the next Dorian Elactra album is going to have a similar sound but much more genuine to who Dorian is now as a person as opposed to the person I think they were trying to be during the creation of this album, as I think this album was made during a transition perion between their old sound, and whatever they will make in the future, although I could very well be wrong, this is all predection and has somewhat devolved into an aimless rant, but I'm not gonna remove it, I'm confident in my predictions until I'm proven wrong, and I'm willing to be humiliated if so.
